The Online Safety Act’s age verification requirements are now rolling out, with enforcement threatened to those who fail to comply. Ofcom has given organisations that host adult content a clear deadline of July 2025 to deploy robust age verification checks, meaning that self-declaration is deemed unsuitable. The Act will affect companies that deliver content, products and services that pose potential online risks, including those that facilitate user-generated content, such as gaming and gambling operators, dating sites, Ecommerce websites selling age restricted goods and social media platforms.
